Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
progresses continuously faster. In the past 30 years, that I have been
involved with ICT, I noticed that management often has difficulty to fit
this progression with their company policies and strategies. The terminology used by ICT
professionals does not necessarily fit the organisational processes. ICT
and the company do not seem to have the same objectives.
Steering of ICT in an
organization is therefore difficult. ICT staff have ideas and plans which they
cannot enough expose in their company. Likewise, management has ideas and plans
with the company and insufficiently knows or is hardly aware of the
opportunities ICT can offer. An effective and efficient organization,
communication and information through optimal use of the available technology
and already present human and infrastructural resources is essential for every
company.
